At the CAPE-OPEN 2021 Annual Meeting, Jasper van BATEN presented (PDF, 4564 Kbytes) on the Python Unit Operation, a product released by AmsterCHEM earlier in 2021. The live recording of the presentation is available from the CAPE-OPEN Channel on YouTube.
Jasper explained first why he decided to develop such a Unit Operation following the assessment made at the CAPE-OPEN 2020 Annual Meeting of the appeal of Python for many participants. Jasper made then the point that while COBIA-based, this Python CAPE-OPEN Unit Operation is not the Python language binding that may be developed by CO-LaN later on, within Phase III of the COBIA project.
Jasper went through the different features offered by his wrapper of a Python model before sharing his experience with Python in the context of CAPE-OPEN. The concerns and issues he pointed to will have to be addressed by CO-LaN when considering a Python language binding in COBIA.
This presentation was followed by a presentation by Martin GAINVILLE from IFP Energies Nouvelles where Martin explained the use made of the Python Unit Operation.
