The Scandinavian Simulation Society (SIMS) has members from the five Nordic countries Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden and Iceland. The SIMS history goes back to 1959. Its goals are:
- Further the science and practice of modeling and simulation in all application areas
- Be a Scandinavian forum for information interchange among modeling and simulation professionals and non-professionals in Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden and Iceland
- Be a channel for information exchange between the Scandinavian modeling and simulation community and the international modeling and simulation communities.
At its Annual Meeting held as the 59th Conference on Simulation and Modelling (SIMS 59), on September 26-28, 2018 at Oslo Metropolitan University, Norway, a paper from NTNU shared experiences and software design options that were considered and employed in the development of the MoDeNa multi-scale modelling framework. The authors cited CAPE-OPEN as a effort to fullfill the need for standardization in the chemical engineering domain.
