During most of past year, the UNIT Special Interest Group has revised the document on the Unit Operation interface specification belonging to the documentation set of version 1.0 of the CAPE-OPEN standards. Version 6.21 is the current version. As per its charter for 2010, the UNIT Special Interest Group has sought to deliver a document that clarifies numerous points while not changing the underlying design of the interfaces constituting the part of the CAPE-OPEN standards specifically dedicated to unit operations.
The UNIT Special Interest Group is now seeking comments from the community in order to finalize the revision. Comments are welcome. The RFC period opens up on February 1, 2011 and is due to finish by March 1, 2011. The comments are to be sent to CO-LaN CTO who will liaise with the UNIT SIG leader on the feedback obtained. Your feedback is of the uttermost importance: it will ensure that the revised specification meets your expectations in terms of clarity and ease of use.
Don’t forget that the examples recently made available by CO-LaN in C++ and Visual Basic 6 are also there to help you implement this interface specification. On the PME side, MiniSim, made available to the CO-LaN members after the training session held near Munich in 2009, provides source code demonstrating how to implement a socket for Unit Operations and a Material Object.
