Prof. Dr.-Ing. Stefan Heinrich is replacing Prof. Dr.-Ing. Joachim Werther as representative in CO-LaN of Technische Universität Hamburg-Harburg.
Prof. Werther has retired but is continuing research as Emeritus Professor in the Institute of Solids Process Engineering and Particle Technology. This Institute was founded in 1980 by Prof. Werther as one of the first Institutes of Technische Universität Hamburg-Harburg. The research focus is in the area of fluidization technology and its industrial application. Fields of application include physical processes such as granulation and drying, chemical reactions and energy conversion. Further research activities are concerned with the flowsheet simulation of complex solids processes and the simulation of gas/solids flows.
So the Institute is engaged in simulation and has been applying CAPE-OPEN in the development of the simulator SolidSim which was transferred to SolidSim Engineering GmbH, later acquired by Aspentech.
Prof. Werther’s successor as head of the institute, Prof. Stefan Heinrich, is chairing a network of projects with other universities under the common theme “Dynamic simulation of complex solids processes”. In the framework of this research program the Institute is working on a new common simulation platform.
CO-LaN welcomes Prof. Heinrich as the new representative of Technische Universität Hamburg-Harburg.
