New representative for AVT-Process Systems Engineering

Since March 1, 2016, Professor Alexander MITSOS is the representative of AVT-Process Systems Engineering at RWTH Aachen University. For a while there was no representative of AVT in CO-LaN, after Professor Wolfgang MARQUARDT (the previous, and from the very beginning, representative of AVT in CO-LaN and CAPE-OPEN) took over in 2011 as Chairman of the German Council of Science and Humanities – an office he held until coming to Forschungszentrum Jülich on July 1, 2014.

Since September 2012, Alexander Mitsos is a Full Professor (W3) in RWTH Aachen University, and the Director of the Laboratory for Process Systems Engineering (AVT.SVT). His research focuses on optimization (design and operation) of energy and chemical systems and development of enabling numerical algorithms.Previously Alexander MITSOS held a position of Assistant Professor (January 2009 –  August 2012) at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of MIT.
