Norbert studied mechanical engineering at the University of Kaiserslautern, Germany and received his Ph.D. (Supervisor Prof. G. Maurer) in the field of thermodynamics of hydrogen-bonding solutions from Kaiserslautern University in 1996. Since then he has been with BASF SE in Ludwigshafen. After several positions in process development and 6 years in technical marketing, he now leads a team responsible for “Chemical Process Modeling” in the department “Digitalization in Research & Development”. His research interest is focused on process modeling, simulation and optimization to support decision making in process development. He is a Senior Principal Scientist at BASF and a member of the CAPE Working Party of the European Federation of Chemical Engineering.
Norbert replaces Peter MAUER on the CO-LaN Management Board. CO-LaN would like to thank Peter for his contributions to the ongoing development of CAPE-OPEN, and for hosting the CAPE-OPEN 2018 Annual Meeting.
