Researchers from Université de Lorraine and Universitá degli Studi di Roma Tor Vergata published today online in Journal of Membrane Science a paper on the optimization of multistage membrane gas separation processes.
This study validates first the global optimization approach with a reference study before applying it to the optimization of CO2 capture from blast furnace gas considering multistage processes with up to four membrane stages. Within the validation process, the authors relied on a proprietary gas permeation calculation tool developed within LRGP (MEMSIC), and implemented to the Aspen Plus V8.6 environment as a CAPE-OPEN standard. A detailed description of MEMSIC as a CAPE-OPEN Unit Operation was provided at the CAPE-OPEN 2017 Annual Meeting.
CO-LaN welcomes the continuous use of MEMSIC within CAPE-OPEN compliant PMEs.
