Today DEXPI and CO-LaN will initiate discussions on how they could cooperate.
The objective of the DEXPI initiative is to develop and promote a general data exchange standard for the process industry, covering all phases of the lifecycle of a (petro-)chemical plant, ranging from specification of functional requirements to assets in operation. DEXPI defines exchange specifications for piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
While CAPE-OPEN is not directly relying on P&IDs since CAPE-OPEN addresses process simulation through flowsheeting, the same engineering data may be shared between a flowsheet and a P&ID. Hence there may be room and purpose in developing cooperation between DEXPI and CO-LaN. This follows from the presentation made by Gregor TOLKSDORF (Evonik Technology & Infrastructure GmbH) at the CAPE-OPEN 2019 Annual Meeting.
