The flash descriptions available here for the Ideal Thermodynamic example will cause trouble for single compounds, due to the discontinuity at the boiling point. Therefore, single-compound flashes are detected and handled with separate algorithms:
- The T–P flash will result a liquid for P > Psat,i; otherwise a vapor.
- Flashes involving a FV specification are explicit: the amount of vapor is given.
- The P-h and P-s flashes are handled the same as for multi-compound systems.
