On October 29, 2018, the Thermo Special Interest Group has issued a Request For Comments to the CO-LaN membership regarding a document containing errata and clarifications with respect to the Thermodynamic and Physical Properties interface specification at version 1.1.
The Thermo SIG has been prompted to release this document for review following the discussion session held at the CAPE-OPEN 2018 Annual Meeting on diffusion coefficients. The discussion went well, outlined a path to resolution and prompted some further discussions that shape up a solution to the issues raised. That solution is explicited as an error correction in the document since the original specification of the property “diffusionCoefficients” was found not applicable.
Over a number of months, a list of clarifications had been prepared by the Thermo SIG as a complement to the list of clarifications already released a while back. The additional clarifications address phase attribute, phase status, phase identification, phase consistency at phase equilibrium, continuity of phase properties, behaviour expected from a Material Object during execution of CalcEquilibrium, surface tension, naming of Material Objects, etc…All these clarifications were deemed necessary from the experience gathered from the various implementations known of the Thermodynamic and Physical Properties interface specification in version 1.1.
The CO-LaN membership is asked to deliver comments by December 10, 2018. The Thermo SIG will then analyze the comments, modify the document as needed and later on will ask the CO-LaN Management Board to authorize the public release of the document.
