The Thermo SIG met from 10:30 am till 12:30 (Central European Time).
Attendees: Sergej BLAGOV (BASF), Jasper van BATEN (AmsterCHEM), Mark STIJNMAN (Shell Global Solutions), Michel PONS (CO-LaN)
Outcome: The conference call was entirely dedicated to the review of the Reaction Package interface specification Further progress was made on the “Reaction Engineering background” section. This new section of the interface document aims at summarizing the theoretical concepts of reaction engineering which are relevant to the design of the CAPE-OPEN interfaces addressing reactions. A number of issues with heat balance concepts were not resolved though. External input may be required to figure out how a Reactor cannot be made responsible for figuring out how to build its heat balance when faced with either EnthalpyF or EnthalpyNF properties served by the Thermodynamic Server. Enthalpy is a property which can take muttiple forms through CAPE-OPEN thermodynamic interfaces. Version 0.66 of the ChemicalReactionsInterfaceSpec was developed and made available to the CO-LaN members in the repository of the ‘CAPE-OPEN IDL” project.
