Highlights
Thermo SIG worked on version 0.04 of the Errata & Clarifications specific to the specification of interface ICapeThermoCompounds within the Thermodynamic and Physical Properties interface specification v1.1.
Thermo SIG introduced clarifications in the description of GetCompoundConstant method, better stressing out that its implementation on a Property Package must not rely on the Material Context, i.e. on the Material Object set on the Property Package through the ICapeThermoMaterialContext interface.
For the sake of clarification, a part of the notes in the description of GetCompoundList were moved to the general description of what is a Property Package. The moved part pertains to the impracticability of having a Property Package displaying, as its list of Compounds, the entire set of Compounds in a database such as DIPPR. The impracticability resides in the allocation of memory necessary at the PME level when faced with several thousands of Compounds in a Property Package, and also in the necessity for the PME to provide an advanced GUI to the end-user so that the end-user may easily select which of the Compounds supported by the Property Package have to be considered in the Material Context, i.e. on the PME side.
The next meeting of the Thermo SIG is scheduled for January 17, 2023 at 9:30 am.
Any CO-LaN Member interested in the Thermo SIG activities is welcome to join this Special Interest Group. Contact the co-leaders of the SIG for further information: Sergej BLAGOV at BASF () and Jasper van BATEN at AmsterCHEM (). The Thermo SIG is looking for additional parties, well versed into any aspect of thermodynamics applied to process simulation and willing to contribute to the maintenance and development of CAPE-OPEN interface specifications related to thermodynamical aspects.
