For more than 40 years, the RSI Group has been fully dedicated to process and control simulation. As an independent software vendor, RSI was focused on delivering the right solution. RSI was an IFP Training company, and took advantage of IFP Energies Nouvelles source of expertise in detailed process modeling.
CORYS SAS, located in Grenoble just like RSI, absorbed RSI on July 1, 2017 with IFP Training retaining a 25% share in CORYS SAS.
RSI was heavily involved in specifying the Dynamic Unit Operation interface specification, prototyping the implementation of the interface specification in INDISS Plus, adding a CAPE-OPEN thermo socket to IndissPlus and worked closely, within the TINA project, with IFPEN and TOTAL as well as ProSim SA to develop the use of CAPE-OPEN in operator training tools.
Didier PAEN, now business development sales manager at CORYS, was all along the representative of first RSI and then CORYS in CO-LaN. Didier PAEN co-authored several papers with IFPEN and TOTAL on various aspects of CAPE-OPEN implementation in INDISS Plus.
- Already in June 2001, at the European Refining Technology Conference – 2001, Didier PAEN co-authored with Bertrand BRAUNSCHWEIG from IFPEN a paper on the use of CAPE-OPEN interfaces.
- At the 3rd CAPE-OPEN European Meeting, held in Cannes in 2006, Didier PAEN presented on INDISS with Thermo and Unit, demonstrating the simulation of transient behavior in pipes.
- At the 2007 Annual Conference of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, Martin GAINVILLE from IFPEN, with Didier PAEN as co-author, reported on the results of the TINA project.
- In November 2007, at the 7th World Congress of Chemical Engineering, Didier PAEN co-authored a paper on the “Integrated Flow Modeling Platform Using CAPE-OPEN Standard” developed at RSI.
CO-LaN received a resignation notice from CORYS S.A.S on December 18, 2020 with effective date as of January 1, 2021. CORYS leaves CO-LaN on an optimistic note stating: “Anyway if we consider in the future that our projects or partnership have an interest in CO-LaN participation, we will be happy to contact you.”
On January 14, 2021, CO-LaN Management Board acknowledged CORYS’s decision to leave CO-LaN.
