Transitioning between COM and COBIA
The participants reviewed the appendix on transitioning to be added to CAPE-OPEN Persistence Interface Specification. The appendix describes a consistent mechanism to handle the transitioning of persistence from COM-based persistence to CAPE-OPEN-based persistence introduced in CAPE-OPEN version 1.2. Under CAPE-OPEN 1.0 and 1.1, persistence is performed by allowing a CAPE-OPEN PMC to be saved and restored by the PME as part of saving or restoring a flowsheet using COM persistence interfaces. Starting with version 1.2, CAPE-OPEN expands the uses for persistence and provides a platform-neutral set of interfaces that can interoperate across different operating systems.
The participants decided to remove from start of appendix what pertains to a roadmap from CAPE-OPEN version 1.2 to CAPE-OPEN version 2.0. Began adding Use Cases after the requirements that have been defined to explain workflow.
COBIA registration issue
Briefly dealt with Ticket#45 on COBIA: appeared that no business case can be figured out about unregistering a COBIA-based DLL, which has not been registered, and getting anything else than success to this action. The ticket has been updated with further insight and parked as wontfix pending further input.
Next conference all of the Methods & Tools Special Interest Group is scheduled for March 3, 2021.
