Report given by Dr William BARRETT at the CAPE-OPEN 2020 Annual Meeting on October 14, 2020. The report covers the activities of the Methods & Tools Special Interest Group between October 2019 and September 2020.
With the US Environmental Protection Agency since 2001, Bill has worked on applications of Computer-Aided Process Engineering aimed at improving the environmental performance of chemical processes. Bill, recipient of the CAPE-OPEN 2008 Award in recognition of his activity to ease the use of the CAPE-OPEN standard by the industry, is the leader of the Methods & Tools Special Interest Group since it was re-commissioned in 2009. Bill has delivered several CAPE-OPEN training sessions for CO-LaN, the latest one being held in 2016 at Linde Engineering in Pullach.
US EPA collaboration with CO-LaN goes back to August 2004, that is the 1st US CAPE-OPEN Meeting held in Cincinnati, where Bill works.
