CFIHOS and CO-LaN held today a conference call to discuss potential cooperation between the two organizations.
The Capital Facilities Information Handover Specification (CFIHOS) sets out to standardize the specification of information handover requirements for a project for operators, contractors and equipment manufacturers and suppliers. The target user groups are the process industries, including the oil and gas, chemicals and nuclear sectors.
The CFIHOS project has evolved based on Shell’s internal standard, the Engineering Information Specification; which has been in use since 2004 to specify information requirements from EPC contractors and equipment suppliers to enable population of IT systems used to support operations, maintenance and Brownfield engineering.
At the CAPE-OPEN 2019 Annual Meeting, CFIHOS was presented by Anders THOSTRUP, IM/IT Functional Excellence Manager at Shell Global Solutions International BV, and Chair USPI-NL (Uitgebreid Samenwerkingsverband ProcesIndustrie, Nederland), the organization in liaison with ISO (International Organization for Standardization) that drives the CFIHOS initiative.
CFIHOS recognizes engineering information such as process flowsheet data as an opportunity for data standards. CAPE-OPEN is a standard addressing the objects making up a flowsheet as defined in process simulation. CO-LaN will look into developing a cooperation with CFIHOS in the relevant common areas.
